Restore from a backup

Problem

You need to recover the current target collection from an existing backup.

Who this is for

Operators who need to roll back collection content after an unwanted change or a failed publish outcome.

What you will see

  • Backups lists the current target and available backups
  • QuillDock requires you to type RESTORE before queueing the restore
  • Restore runs appear in Run detail after they are queued

Likely causes

  • a recent publish changed records in a way you want to undo
  • the target collection needs recovery from an existing restore point
  • the team wants to recover before trying a new manual publish

Step-by-step resolution

  1. Open Backups.
  2. Confirm the current target collection is the collection you intend to restore.
  3. Review the available backups.
  4. Choose the backup you want to restore.
  5. Type RESTORE.
  6. Select Confirm restore.
  7. Monitor the new restore run in Run detail.

Important behavior

  • Restore remains available even when QuillDock is in read-only mode.
  • Restore is site-scoped.
  • After restore completes, QuillDock pauses future schedule eligibility until a new successful manual publish happens later.

When to contact support

Contact support if the backup list does not load, the restore cannot be queued, or the restore run finishes with errors.
